Aspen's very own dance company is back with a sizzling program that features Gerald Arpino's sensual duet, Light Rain and the Aspen premiere of our newest acquisition, Petite Mort, a stunning work by the world's foremost living choreographer, Jiri Kylian.   Also on this program is Dominique Dumais' evocative sans detour and Its Not About The Numbers by choreographer Nicolo Fonte.

"This is a company with classical dance as a base, but with the stylistic heart of a chameleon."  The Orange County Register

Pilobolus, the arts organism, germinated in the fertile soil of a Dartmouth College dance class in 1971. What emerged was a collaborative choreographic process and a unique weight-sharing approach to partnering that gave the young company a non-traditional but powerful new set of skills with which to make dances. The group was immediately acclaimed for its startling mix of humor and invention and Pilobolus soon became a self-sufficient organization, its members choreographing, dancing, managing, and publicizing their own programs.

"Sliding, intertwining and climbing all over each other into moving shapes, their virtually indescribable sculptural tableaux forged a new dance genre."  Philadelphia Daily News

Peking Acrobats

April 6-7

Hailing from the People's Republic of China, The Peking Acrobats have for decades been diplomats of their spirited culture. Since 1958, this elite group has toured the world over, leaving audiences spellbound by the graceful presentation of their ancient folk art, acrobatics. Carefully selected from the finest acrobat schools in China, these gymnasts, jugglers, cyclists and tumblers transform 2000-year-old athletic disciplines into an all-ages kaleidoscope of entertainment and wonder.

"The Peking Acrobats regularly passed from the seemingly impossible to the virtually unbelievable."   Los Angeles Times
