Mardi Gras Masquerade 2009 blows everyone away at The House of Blues in Dallas

Mardi Gras 2009 was a fabulous event full of dancing, New Orleans-style food - co-chair, Maggie Kipp (left in pink) is a NO native and grew up there. She brought an authentic Mardi Gras air to the event and Katy Sevier, co-chair (left in blue) stepped in with glamour and together, the two created one of the most fun Mardi Gras events so far!

Pamela and Eddie King, King Architectural Metals were honorary chairs and PaperCity is media sponsor.

It's always fun when people are walking around in costumes, masks, an absolutely fabulous band is playing, everyone is dancing - even some members of the band came down onto the dance floor and jammed with the partygoers.

Read more and see more photos at the People Newspapers site here and here. The spelling of Katy Sevier's name is inaccurate, but they're changing it soon!

See below: The peacock lady was a HUGE hit! Now, that's a costume:)

We'll have more Party Pics published here soon. Scroll down or click here for the fact sheet, listing of specifics, etc.

Original Artwork by Pop Artist Burton Morris benefits American Red Cross - Dallas Area Chapter

Pop artist Burton Morris, the artist whose artworks are in the show FRIENDS - remember the coffee shop scenes with the painting of the coffee cup with the swirl of steam coming out on top – has created an original artwork for Mardi Gras Masquerade 2009 benefiting the American Red Cross – Dallas Area Chapter.

“We are excited and grateful for not only the generosity of Burton Morris, but JD Miller and Phil Romano, owners of Samuel Lynne Galleries,” said Maggie Kipp and Katy Sevier, co-chairs of Mardi Gras Masquerade. “The gallery came on board the minute we mentioned Burton’s name, agreeing to exhibit Morris’ first ever show in Dallas January 17th through February 7th."

Not only is Morris donating 100% of the proceeds of chance ticket sales of the original painting back to the American Red Cross, but he attended the invitation-only sponsor party at Samuel Lynne Galleries on January 15th.

Some don't realize the Red Cross not only helps in national disasters, but in local and very personal emergencies, as well. Imagine your house burning down in the middle of the night and you have nowhere to go. The American Red Cross volunteers immediately arrive on the scene with clothing and food, accommodations are arranged and they take care of your family before the sun comes up.

These disasters and others happen every day and the Dallas Area Chapter responds.

The American Red Cross receives no government funds. We rely on your generous donations to support our mission: To help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Contact: 214.678.4402 or visit the website at www.redcrossdallas.org/mardigras
