The Glamour of Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball 2007
benefiting the American Red Cross - Dallas Area Chapter

Dallas Mardi Gras Masquerade on Saturday, January 27, 2007 was a night of complete partying!

"We are Mardi Gras and we are masquerade," said Jill Beth (JB) Hayes, chairman. "Think masks, crowns, hats, boas and feathers. The attire is Mardi Gras masquerade cocktail, so masks are a must!"

The evening's festivities featured the very cool and hip D VIP Lounge for Underwriters sponsored by D Home and D magazine, fabulous food, gambling, dancing, great silent auction items and the people watching is its own party.

Surrounding the band's stage and huge dance floor were tables with seating for guests, gaming tables and bartenders pouring cocktails, wines and beer generously donated by Moet Hennessey, Peroni and Pilsner Urquell.

"Dallas Mardi Gras Masquerade is one of my favorite charitable events," says Jill Beth (JB) Hayes, chairman. "It's festive and fun for everyone. Some people bring dates, some bring girlfriends or buddies. It's a great party benefiting a great cause."

The Pavilion at the Belo Mansion rocked away to the powerful blues tunes from Dallas' own Edwin Holt and his 12-piece Conspiracy Band. The stage was a very happening place. This is also the perfect event for parents to enjoy with their adult children, friends and couples to have a fun night together.

"This exciting night would not have come together without our sponsors and fabulous committee," JB said. "Special thanks go to honorary chairs, Jackson Walker L.L.P - Betty and John Crawford; fundraising chair, Cynthia Thornton; arrangements chair, Cynthia McFerrin and so many more."

A Junior League of Dallas volunteer, JB also helps Genesis Women's Shelter and is a steering committee member with the Dallas Museum of Art's Junior Associates. She has been involved with Dallas Mardi Gras for the past few years and has seen how the American Red Cross makes a difference.

"Some don't realize the Red Cross not only helps in national disasters, but in local and very personal emergencies, as well," she said. "Imagine your house burning down in the middle of the night and you have nowhere to go. The American Red Cross volunteers immediately arrive on the scene with clothing and food, accommodations are arranged and they take care of your family before the sun comes up."

These disasters and others happen every day and the Dallas Area Chapter responds. All Red Cross services support the mission of helping families prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

The Congressional Charter mandates two services: Disaster Services and Armed Forces Emergency Services. In addition to these, the Dallas Area Red Cross offers a wide variety of humanitarian, educational and health and safety programs to the more than 4.1 million people in our twelve-county service area.

"On behalf of the law firm of Jackson Walker L.L.P., Betty and I are proud to be associated with the American Red Cross, which has an unmatched legacy of reaching out to the North Texas Community and around the world to provide relief to victims of disasters and helping to prevent, prepare and respond to emergencies," said Crawford.

"Jackson Walker has a long-standing commitment to being a positive, contributing member of our community and history of embracing the rich diversity of people and organizations, like the American Red Cross, that make Dallas great. We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to partner with the American Red Cross in making a direct and positive impact on the quality of life of individuals devastated by untimely, unwanted and unplanned emergencies and disasters.

"We are hopeful that the community will join us to ensure the American Red Cross has the necessary resources to continue providing ongoing relief efforts when the unexpected occurs."

The party began at 7:30 p.m. and lasted until midnight at The Pavilion at the Belo Mansion - Downtown Dallas. Tickets were $125 for general admission and $175 for patron tickets with access to the D VIP Lounge. Underwriting levels begin at $500.
