CHICK LIT LUNCHEON RAISES OVER $227,000
5th annual luncheon benefits Community Partners of Dallas
Community Partners of Dallas announces that over $227,000 was raised at the 2011 Chick Lit Luncheon, presented by Dr. Robert and Lara Tafel, on Friday, April 1 at Brook Hollow Golf Club. The 5th annual luncheon, which featured New York Times best-selling author Emily Giffin, benefited the important services provided by Community Partners of Dallas.
This year’s fundraiser got an early start on the evening of March 31, at a sponsor party hosted by Vince in Highland Park Village.
Co-Chairs Angela Nash and Anne Stodghill were joined by Honorary Chair Sally Hoglund and sponsors for an opportunity to meet featured speaker Emily Giffin.
An additional event highlight was Top Chef contestant Tre Wilcox, of the newly opened Marquee Restaurant, who was onsite preparing delicious bites for guests.

Committee members enjoyed Tre’s cuisine and Belvedere cocktails while perusing the latest fashions at Vince. Shoppers were rewarded with a discount and 10% going back to CPD. As they were leaving, partygoers were given a yummy take-home treat from Gigi’s Cupcakes.
Friday, April 1, 650 stylish guests arrived at Brook Hollow Golf Club for this year’s luncheon. Sponsors enjoyed a private meet and greet with author Emily Giffin, while other attendees mixed and mingled on the Brook Hollow terrace at a wine reception. At the sound of the bell, patrons took their seats as Co-Chairs Anne Stodghill and Angela Nash thanked everyone for their support of this year’s event. After a lovely lunch of pecan-crusted chicken on mesclun greens with dried cherries and apricots, followed by dessert of frangipane and creme fraiche dome with caramel chantilly and valrhona chocolate sauce, Paige McDaniel, President and CEO of Community Partners of Dallas took the stage.

Ms. McDaniel added her gratitude of the support of the luncheon before recognizing longtime partner The Container Store with the Partners for Children Award. Kelley McDonald, Marketing Director, accepted the award on the company’s behalf. Ms. Giffin then addressed the group with an entertaining recount of the writing of her books and the process behind her first movie based on her first book Something Borrowed, starring Kate Hudson, Ginnifer Goodwin, Colin Eggleston and John Krasinski.
Following a brief Q & A, Ms. Giffin stayed to sign books as luncheon-goers picked up their favor bags filled with Central Market truffles, darling note cards from Paper Affair, the latest issues of Modern Luxury and Park Cities News and a book mark, of course.

About Emily Giffin
Emily started her career in a court room, but always dreamed of becoming a writer. In 2004, she began writing full time -- Something Borrowed made her an overnight sensation!
Dubbed a “modern day Jane Austen” and a “dependably down-to-earth storyteller,” Giffin has since penned four more New York Times bestsellers, Something Blue (2005), Baby Proof (2006), Love the One You’re With (2008) and Heart of the Matter (2010). Her five novels, all filled with endearingly flawed characters and emotional complexity, have been translated into thirty languages, with six million copies in print worldwide. In addition, three of her novels have been optioned for the big screen, with Something Borrowed scheduled for a May 6, 2011 nationwide release by Alcon/Warner Bros. starring Kate Hudson and John Krasinski.
