At the heart of Dallas Summer Musicals is the commitment to produce family entertainment on a grand scale.  Year after year, we re-dedicate our promise to introduce children to the magic of artistic expression, nurture the performers of today and tomorrow, and enrich audiences with superb theatrical experiences.

Dallas Summer Musicals’ Education and Outreach Programs — Seats for Kids, Stage Right, Discover Theatre, Kids Club, and Dallas Summer Musicals Academy of Performing Arts — bring the magic and joy of live musical theatre to more than 10,000 children annually.
Studies show that youth and community involvement with the arts:

  • Improves self-esteem
  • Raises academic performance
  • Encourages a more literate and qualified workforce
  • Positively affects the local social and business climates
  • Contributes to an overall quality of life

Proceeds from Curtain Call support Dallas Summer Musicals’ mission to bring the best of Broadway to Dallas and provide for children’s education and outreach programs.

Sponsors:  Dallas Summer Musicals is presented by Comerica Bank.  Season sponsors are American Airlines, WFAA Channel 8, and Texas Instruments.  Curtain Call 2011 media sponsors are Modern Luxury Dallas and Park Cities News/The Waters Family.

The Highland Park home of Tracy and Richard Cheatham set an elegant stage for the kick off of Curtain Call 2011. Co-chairs Mary and John Gill welcomed guests as the excitement built for the announcement of the entertainer for the 2011 gala.

DSM Chairman of the Board, Gary Griffith, began the program by thanking the Cheathams for their generous hospitality as hosts and played a video message from DSM’s President and Managing Director, Michael A. Jenkins.

The Gills then took the stage and announced Amy Turner as Honorary Chairman and a drum-roll for the entertainer announcement: Country Music Association’s 2010 Male Vocalist of the Year, Blake Shelton, is the headline entertainment for Curtain Call 2011! Applause and shouts of “woo-hoo” echoed throughout the house as they began playing Blake’s music video.
