FASHIONONMAIN debuts with Flights of Fancy

DALLAS, Texas -
On September 22, 2006 , Fashion on Main, located at 1901 Main at the Universities Center at Dallas, invites the public to soar into fashion at its most exotic and visually inspiring with the gallery's premiere exhibit entitled Flights of Fancy.

The exhibit pieces were chosen from The Texas Fashion Collection, currently part of the School of Visual Arts at The University of North Texas Denton, the Collection's home for over thirty years. The exhibit consists of 20 pieces of designer men's and women's fashions that feature feathers - a texture long admired for its juxtaposition of vibrancy and delicateness, and long desired for its ability to exude an aura of exotic mystique.

Heidi Dillon and The Fashionistas raised funds through various high end fashion events to support the gallery transformation, which includes custom made platforms and lighting to present a jewel-box of a fashion gallery.

Along with the UNT System, which provided the space at 1901 Main, The Fashionistas and TFC curator Myra Walker have worked together for this unveiling of previously hidden artworks to the artistic and cultural centerfold of one of the country's most lively and fashionable cities - Dallas, Texas.

There will be a preview party and grand opening events on Thursday, September 21st, where glamour and chic will be in full flare as The Fashionistas are thrilled to have Alonso Martinez and Taylor Carson Sandvick as co-chairs of this highly anticipated event.

The road from conceptualization to actualization began with Heidi Dillon, founder and executive director of The Fashionistas, who was joined shortly thereafter by Professor Myra Walker, curator of The Texas Fashion Collection and a professor at UNT School of Visual Arts since 1987.

Walker stated, "This opportunity is truly a dream come true. So many people in Dallas have wanted a fashion museum for a long time. The Texas Fashion Collection has a national and international reputation because of the depth and quality of the collection. It is time to share our treasures with the public in the setting of an exhibition space and work towards a long -time goal of establishing a fashion museum and resource center in Dallas."

The Fashionistas, led by Dallas' fashion guru Heidi Dillon, have helped transfigure this dream into a reality with fundraising efforts and events that simply define all that is fabulous and fashionable in the Dallas fashion and social scene.

"The Fashionistas are so excited about the opening of Fashion on Main, this is what we have been working for. We have had incredible support from the retailing and arts community as well as from our members and our dynamic board of directors" said Dillon.
