When in St. Louis, visit the St. Louis Art Museum and say hello to Carl Hamm
From Carl Hamm: After five-and-a-half years in Fort Worth, I started a new position this week (January 2011) with one of the country’s most respected encyclopedic art museums, the Saint Louis Art Museum.  In my new role, I will oversee the Museum’s development, campaign, membership, marketing, public relations, visitor services and food service/catering functions.

Located in a historic Cass Gilbert building built for the 1904 World’s Fair in picturesque Forest Park, the 131 year-old institution is just several million dollars away from completing a $145 million campaign to enhance its endowment and construct a new David Chipperfield-designed expansion likely to open in early 2013.  I hope you will visit the Museum online at http://www.slam.org to learn more about the project and the fantastic organization I’ve joined.

Sarasota, FL: Always a fun visit

If you have never been to Sarasota, FL, by all means, you should go. The John and Mable Ringling Museum complex includes their home of Ca'd Zan. (photo below.) They recently completed a $15 million renovation. Open year round. And the two annexed museums, one classic, the other is all circus. A wonderful day in Sarasota browing through all of these.

Girlfriends Getaway to Kiepersol Vineyards and Winery in Tyler, TX

Ever since my mother-in-law took me to Kiepersol, a wonderful vineyard and winery just outside of Tyler, TX for just a brief visit, I've always wanted to go back for the experience, but never found the time.

After reading about it again in Nancy Nichols' blog, we were determined to go, which we did and had a wonderful time. It is the perfect getaway for a weekend or longer. There is so much to do!

Fabulous traveling music came from the movie SIDEWAYS soundtrack. We highly recommend staying at the Bed and Breakfast at Kiepersol to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Have dinner at the restaurant, take a tour of the vineyards.

We love Maryam Montague's take on all things Marrakesh. her blog literally takes you away via her third-person prose. Look for her new olive oil harvest and boutique hotel - in the process here.
