Dallas,
TX: The cities of Paris, Milan and New York are known
as fashion capitals of the world. Now, the city of
Dallas joins the ranks, thanks to the Junior League of
Dallas (JLD). "Rock the Runway," the JLD's new Spring
Fashion Show and Design Competition, will debut April
8, 2010 at the Fashion Industry Gallery
(f.i.g.), 1807
Ross Avenue, Dallas (75201).
"We
couldn't be more excited about the enthusiasm and
interest generated by this inaugural event," said JLD
Ball Chair Angela Nash. "It will be a wonderful night
to enjoy fashion, fun, food and friends while
showcasing the talents of our local
designers."
Participating
designers include Abi Ferrin, Oscar Fierro, Patti
Flowers, Shemara Jeyarajah and Khanh
Nguyen. Each designer will have to create a
unique clothing piece constructed out of
non-traditional materials as well as showcase some of
their current designs in the fashion show. Celebrity judges for the show include: Stephanie Quadri, D Magazine Style Director; Elaine
Raffel of Stanley Korshak; Barbara Adelglass,
representing Skintastic; Shirin Askari, a contestant
on the Lifetime Network's Season 6 Project Runway; Donnie Brown, host of
the Style Network's Whose Wedding is
it Anyway?; and Kate Wagner,
co-owner of Campbell-Wagner Runway, LLC. Lisa Garza, owner of Suze Catering,
will serve as emcee for the show. All five
unique creations will be displayed at Dillard's in NorthPark Center for one week following
the event.
Over 200 guests
attended the February 2 Reveal Party at AMPM Restaurant and
Lounge to meet the celebrity designers and
judges. The secret element revealed was that designers
must create eveningwear using pages from D Magazine, D Home,
and Park Place Dealerships emblems.
Tickets
for "Rock the Runway" are $100 per person; proceeds
benefit the 40+ agencies supported annually by the
Junior League of Dallas. TO
