2007
beneficiaries are:
Camp
Reynal-
To fund the 2008 Camp Reynal for children with kidney and urological
disease and to foster fun, growth, exploration, discovery, friendship,
self-esteem and independence for 119 campers, counselors, medical
staff and Unit Dosing of Medications.
Children's
Medical Center
- The purchase of one Bookwalter retractor system used in kidney
transplantation. This system increases the surgeon's visibility
and allows maximum exposure at the site of the incision, which
is especially important with transplantation surgery.
Methodist
Health System
- The purchase of one sustained low efficiency dialysis (SLED)
unit, a form of continuous renal replacement therapy that facilitates
maintenance of hemodialysis for patients with blood pressure instability,
and utilized on chronic patients with the need for longer intermittent
therapies.
The
PKD Foundation
- To fund research under the direction of Zhendong Ma, Ph.D.
"Genome-wide combinatoril analysis of HNF-1B target genes
in kidney". Polycistic kidney disease (PKD) is the leading
hereditary renal disease resulting in end-stage renal failure
in the United States. The results of the proposed research will
help to elucidate the mechanism of PKD and identify targets to
development treatment for PKD.
UT
Southwestern Medical Center
- The purchase of one state-of-the-art digital nephroscope, one
digital ureteroscope and a digital controller to allow mapping
and sampling of areas within the kidney collecting system which
are accessible at the time of endoscopic kidney stone removal.
Membership dues provide the much needed resources to raise funds
for the selected beneficiaries. Join us! Everyone's participation
will ensure another successful year.
