2009 Saint Valentine's Day Luncheon and Fashion Show® Seams Like Old Times
Presented by Stanley Korshak
Benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

WHAT:          The Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon & Fashion Show® is one of the leading fundraising events for North Texas Chapter and one of the top fundraising galas for the Society nationwide.  Now in its 25th year, the 2009 Luncheon is expected to raise more than $550,000, adding to nearly $6 million generated over the past two decades.  Funds are raised not only through table and ticket sales but also through a raffle of high-end items retailing anywhere from $500 to $10,000.

WHEN &         February 13th, 2009 at the Hilton Anatole Chantilly Ballroom
WHERE

WHO:
Stanley Korshak, fashion show sponsor, featuring fashions from fab designer, Brian Reyes.
Jan Strimple, professional model and fashion show producer, full runway production comparable to any major fashion event.
Modern Luxury Dallas, media partner
Clarice Tinsley, anchor for the Dallas/Fort Worth Fox TV affiliate, emcee
Nancy and Richard Rogers, Sweetheart sponsors.

The Luncheon draws an audience of more than 1200 social and civic leaders from Dallas, Fort Worth, and the entire North Texas region.  This must-attend event is popular not only in the social community but also with members of the area’s fashion industry, as it is the first runway show of the new season on the calendar each year.  Designers in attendance have included Bill Blass, Christian Louboutin, Mark Badgley & James Mischka, Loree Rodkin, and most recently Rodarte.  Local stars who have walked the runway include Angie Harmon, Janine Turner and members of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks and the Dallas Stars.  Local media celebrities have also participated in the shows and the luncheon receives extensive coverage in print and on air.

HOW:              Thanks to the generosity of Dallas’ premier specialty store Stanley Korshak, the fashion show directed by Jan Strimple, professional model and experienced producer, is a full runway production comparable to any major fashion event.   Clarice Tinsley, anchor for the Dallas/Fort Worth Fox TV affiliate, has graciously emceed our program year after year, helping us raise awareness of the event and its cause by developing public service announcements aired during primetime.  The positive energy generated throughout the community by this event has been key to 25 years of successful fundraising for the North Texas Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

WHY:              The mission of the Society is also integral to the event. Awards are presented at the Luncheon: The Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award, The Heart of Gold Award and new to the 2008 Luncheon is the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award recognizes a youth with courage, integrity, dignity and dauntless spirit who has battled blood cancer through personal experience or who has volunteered extensively on behalf of others who suffer from blood cancer. We are honored each year to have Mrs. Tom Landry, a beloved figure in Dallas, make this award presentation.  The cause is close to her heart, as she lost her husband to blood cancer.

The Heart of Gold Award recognizes an adult individual or couple with a “heart of gold”, known for working tirelessly to help find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

The Saint Valentine’s Day Luncheon & Fashion Show is always an upbeat, glittering affair enjoyed by everyone in attendance, but we try never to lose sight of our very serious mission.
