6th Annual WINGS luncheon features Ron Hall and Denver Moore, co-authors of Same Kind of Different as Me benefiting New Friends New Life

Kay H. Neve and Jessie O’Brien, Luncheon Co-Chairs

Mark your calendars for April 6, 2009!

New Friends New Life is honored to announce that Ron Hall and Denver Moore, authors of Same Kind of Different as Me, have agreed to serve as guest speakers at the 6th Annual New Friends New Life WINGS Luncheon.

The dynamic author and international art dealer and his co-laborer will share their story of faith and friendship at this luncheon benefiting New Friends New Life on April 6, 2009, at the Belo Mansion in downtown Dallas.

Ron Hall has dedicated his time to helping the homeless and, through an unlikely friendship he developed with Denver Moore at a Fort Worth shelter, he re-evaluated his past and changed his future in surprising, unexpected ways.

Denver Moore touches the lives of everyone he meets, embracing the homeless and preaching the word of God.  This heartfelt and often humorous story shares the journey of two men from opposite backgrounds and what they both learned during this incredible journey.

New Friends New Life (NFNL), a faith-based non-profit organization, is dedicated to helping women leave adult entertainment businesses. NFNL sees potential in women who desire to leave this lifestyle and break the cycle for themselves and their children.

Most women who come to New Friends New Life for help are products of broken and dysfunctional homes.  They are usually lured into unsavory businesses at an early age through economic necessity and poor associations. Since 1998, New Friends New Life has helped more than 300 women and their children re-chart their future by:

  • Helping women create new lives for themselves and their children that will reflect dignity, accountability, self-sufficiency and a deep sense of self worth.
  • Providing financial support for basic needs such as housing, food, transportation and childcare.
  • Networking with agencies that provide education, medical and dental care and counseling.
  • Supplying friendship and support through counseling, ministry and mentoring.
  • Providing special help to children from a licensed professional Children’s Advocate

Executive Director,
New Friends New Life

Today, most of these women have conventional jobs, are self-sufficient and have gained additional education.  Fewer than one in five women return to their former lifestyles.

For more information regarding the WINGS luncheon, please contact Mary Westfall at 214-969-0090 or mwestfall@malakoffpartners.com.  Everyone at New Friends New Life truly appreciates your taking the time to consider this important community project.

From the press release about the movie:

After more than 20 inquiries, Hall and Moore signed a contract for the movie rights for a major motion picture with Mark Clayman, who was the Executive Producer of The Pursuit of Happyness.  The movie is in the beginning stages, as they have met with studio writers who are working to adapt Same Kind of Different as Me into a screenplay.  Same Kind of Different as Me is the most inspirational and emotionally gripping story of faith, fortitude and friendship I have ever read.  A powerful example of the healing, restorative power of forgiveness and the transformational life changing power of unconditional love,” says Clayman.
