Had a wonderful dinner last night at Stephan Pyles with Carmaleta Whiteley, Honorary Chair, Share our Strength; Terri Provencal, Chairman; Robert Whiteley, Ramone Longoria and the NY Share our Strength VIPs. Stephan Pyles, who has supported SOS for over 20 years seated us in the private wine room and of course, the food was divine.
The event concept is: 20 tables, each hosted by a local VIP chef. Diners at each table will have the experience of just what it would be like to be personall.....

We'll update this blog after each party or board meeting to keep the news out there!
One of the roadblocks to instant updating is images. Socialwhirl.com is image heavy. Sometimes the news doesn't quite seem the same without an image to go with it.
But our readers want quick updates, just about every day. So, we'll try it out. When we have images, we'll go with them. When we don't, like now, then not.

Thank you to everyone from all over the world who has asked for RSS feeds to be placed on socialwhirl. You know we've spent the past year - who knew! - researching, developing and launching our sister website, socialdirectconnect.com - so now, in January, we're back on track with socialwhirl. The hits are more popular than ever, over 550,000 each month.
We are looking into what RSS feeds requires and will have it in a month or so, promise!

There are spammers using sadams@socialwhirl.com as their email address. We sent a complaint to our server and here is their response. Apparently, it can happen to anyone and has happened to us. We are researching how we can prevent this, but for now, we're stuck!
Here is the response:
The messages you have received are known as email "spoofing". The true sender of this message forged the header information to give the impression that it came from your email address. The sender seems.....

Downtown Neiman Marcus opens the first floor for the reception where everyone starts enjoying champagne and wine at 10:30 a.m. This year, the second floor was the scene for Oscar de la Renta's 2009 Resort fashion show. Dallas Summer Musicals 2008 season officially kicked off Tuesday, April 15th with the delightful musical set in the 1980s, “The Wedding Singer.” Based on the hit movie starring Adam Sandler, the lead role of Robby Hart is played by Merritt David Janes and his co-star is Erin Elizabeth Coors.
In an unusual warm-up for opening night, Janes was invited to sing the National Anthem at the Texas Rangers home game at the Arlington Ball Park Tuesday afternoon at 1:05.....

Visited Houston recently and saw Jersey Boys - the story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Electrifying! You just don't want the show to end.
Christopher Kale Jones as Franki Valli is mesmerizing. Just can't take your eyes off of him!
Erik Bates is the perfect Tommy DeVito-bad boy. Erik toured with the Four Seasons, singing back up with the man himself, Frankie Valli.
The telling of the story of the group's beginnings and ending flows from one hit song to the oth.....

Went to a meeting at Neiman Marcus downtown Friday morning and visited with Amy Turner Carreker, her mom, Julie and sister, Jenna, who are all co-chairing a new fundraiser benefiting the American Heart Association called the Neiman Marcus Stiletto Strut.

Lunched at Strong's yesterday and am excited something wonderful is happening in the heretofore jinxed spot. Had the club salad - a little skimpy on the fried proscuitto and dressing, but otherwise good. Could have used some garlic bread or some sort of bread on the side.
Luncheon partner had the hamburger. She ordered it medium rare. Appeared a little too rare upon delivery, so it was sent back and came back to the table perfect.

Very fun and entertaining inaugural luncheon benefiting CPD called "Chick Lit," a new series of luncheons featuring authors and girls getting together. This luncheon featured the two authors of The Nanny Diaries - A Novel by Emma McLaughlin & Nicola Kraus.
After seeing the video of children testifying to horrifying and psychologically demeaning experiences and how CPD has helped, Paige McDaniel, executive director, took the podium and was a heart warming and excited-about-her.....

TITAS La Fete du Ballet gala cocktail party and dinner were elegant, exquisite and very well orchestrated by Lucy Billingsley, One Arts Plaza and staff; Neiman Marcus and TITAS coordinator of it all, Melissa Sauvage.
Imagine dining on the 14th floor of One Arts Plaza with some of the most talented and internationally renowned members of the dance world. It was quite an eclectic setting. The building is not finished out, but with the creative minds of Neiman Marcus sponsoring .....

We took the advice of their PR people and made reservations for Easter brunch. Published a nice article in socialwhirl's Extreme Epicurean encouraging others to do so, too.
Entered the restaurant. Was seated. Tables were not full. There are about 20 tables in the restaurant. Ten minutes later, someone brought water. Our daughter, who works as a server somewhere else, said she'd be fired if a customer had to wait that long. She suggested we walk out and s.....

It's the Saint Valentine's Day Luncheon & Fashion show sponsored by Stanley Korshak and benefitting the Leukemia & Lymphomia Society, the first big luncheon in 2007. About 1,000 ladies joined in the wine and hors d'oeuvres pre-luncheon gathering, beginning at 10:30 in the morning, bidding on silent auction items and cathing up on news of the new year.
Overheard: "If I see one more Tory Burch wrap dress with flats, I'm going to hurl."

By invitation of Bonnie Crail, Director of Public Relations for The Ritz Carlton - Dallas, me and a couple of other media/PR types were invited to meet with executives at 9:00 a.m. last Monday morning at their offices in the Crescent to formalize plans for an upcoming special event. As it turned out, we were the first customer guests to experience the daily Ritz Carlton lineup.
At 9:00 a.m. the employees line up shoulder-to-shoulder, including staff and management, and share their pers.....
